It'd be nice to have an option to display your own qn's, pm or public, so that you can see any typos you made and be prepared for the jibes, or else to help remember what you were talking about when someone takes 20 minutes to reply.
I don't mean like the quicknote review system, I mean an option to have your sent quicknotes displayed along with all the others on the site.
This is an option I would personally be in favor of.
Isn't that what quicknote history is for? I believe that is a premium feature.
Not to have a recorded history, just to follow along as they are being in use at the actual time.
BLind V. As I've said... not quicknote history. My suggestion is to allow your quicknotes to display as others are. The quicknote you send, therefore, would appear much as a normal quicknote (it'd be like you're on the other people's computer, seeing your sent quicknote). Comprende?
that would probably take up more site resources, and just isn't worth it. besides if the history takes years to load, even on broadband, why take up more space?
Brice24 your a dumb ass. It isn't that hard. Just modify the quick note code to see oh, if you send a quick note modify some session variable, and next time a page loads, like after you hit send, look at the variable, go oh, better give them the text of what they sent. Please if you people are this stupid remove your selves from the jean pool and do us all a favor.
I like the suggestion.
Why would they want to waste time coding that, when they should improove things that the admins feel need improoving? I understand this is a suggestion board, but how much more qn features do we want? I mean it's just another on a list of options that seem never ending of off, on? If I thought this were possible i'd suggest a spellcheck, a small one for words commonly miss spelled but, I know it's impossible. Ah to dream...
I concur wholeheartedly, Blindguy. It's not very complicated to do... just have to include the user sending in the message display array, or remove him from the if/else bracket preventing them from receiving their own messages. It may be coded differently, of course, but that's the basic methodology...
And Vel, by your standards, we might as well not have a suggestions board... we might as well not have feature requests.
It's a quick, simple request, and I'm afraid that I must agree with Blindguy... You guys are just too dense to grasp the concept of the idea. You're going into quicknote histories and what not... it has nothing to do with the bloody quicknote history.
hold on qn history wasonly broguht up as an example. I never use it, so i could really care less whether it's here or not. You want the honest truth all it's there for is oh lookw ho said what to whom, a big mistake im my oppinion. It just hurts people more an more because of what can be found and used potentially out of context. But you all are wasting time on qn's where there should new things, and I don't mean games. How about a search idea, which has been asked multiple times, but you qn junkies get what you wnat first don't you?
hey people just read your quicknotes before you post them, if you're really worried about how beautiful your words look! That's why we made the thing look like the boards, and why we made it so that you have to tab over to the send button. Well, we also did it in attempt to stop duplicates, but well, that didn't work well, but yeah, just take the time to read over your QN before you send it if you're that concerned about making it pretty!
I like this idea. Quicknote history does not help us standard users and - as far as I know - quicknote history is only for notes you received - but I may be wrong there. An option to view quicknotes you sent, that would be good.
blindguy, not everyone is as up on all this as you. I for one have no idea of what you are talking about in your message.
It is not that we think our words are beautiful. But it is a good idea like wraith already said: If someone answers you to a quicknote you sent 20 minutes ago, and in the meantime, you have talked to many others - do you really know then what you were talking about to the user who took so long? It is not always obvious and that is why I like this idea.
QN history shows all quicknotes that you sent or received, both public and private. As for the feature, it's doable, but not sure on the priority of doing it.
Okay then.
j-squared... perhaps though this could get on the "to do list" though... I agree with Inesle that it is not for a "look how beautiful" I have written a qn but rather as discussed so as at times when we do qn and then have to leave as perhaps there is a call in the home to receive, etc... and when we return we have the last line we mentioned right there to refer back to. It is a matter of helping in keeping the flow of words go more smoothly. To be of a help in communication if you please. Also just to add a note that I hope this too makes the "to do list" is in some way to better enable us to format writings, like the placing in of paragraphs. Thanks for listening, Connie
Yeah, and not everyone is allowed to be premium (my parents for example wouldn't allow it cause they say it's their money), and it is not Maybe we can at least have the option to read sent notes, even if oyu are standard member.
It's really a different feature from Quicknote history, since it's just the last QUicknote. It's on the list, though not sure how high on the list it is at this point.
"He's making a list...and checking it twice..." Well, good indeed that this request made the list! ** :) ** ...Now about being enabled to place in paragraphs easily...
I guess it doesn't matter what the priorities are, because the qn people rule the zone. Hey who needs a search function in the boards when someone forgot to spell the word shit right, and wants to make sure that they fix it the next time they send a qn.
This is stupid, you can now proof your QN before you send it, and if you're so stupid that you can't remember what you were talking about, then either ask what is being replied to, or simply realise it wasn't important enough for your brain to retain.
Again, idiotic people completely take suggestions out of proportion.
I, never once, mentioned that the idea was for proof reading (You can indeed do that in the edit field and always have been able to).
The personal quicknote self-broadcast is simply an option to allow oneself to keep track of a thread of conversation after one has stepped away from the computer.
I, for one, do not simply just keep myself on the zone while I'm here. I do ten other things, and the zone is just a nice (albeit lately idiotically laced) intermission between the other activities.
Therefore, by the time I return to the zone window, I've forgotten what my last qn was about, and then do not really know what the other person is commenting on.
The point is moot, however, since at least the admin (and a few other people) were smart enough to grasp the concept of the idea.
Nor did I ever mention any priorities on the idea.
I will note, that I said "it'd be nice", not "it'd be manditory", or "it'd be necessary."
I will not deny that a few other things could be implemented, and I'm not saying this idea be implemented first... But Vel, you seem to be angered simply because this idea has been receiving attention most recently as opposed to your own. If such is the case: It's just an idea, and it won't take away your livelihood on the Zone BBS, I promise.
You've also publically stated that you will "leave the zone if wraith's quick note suggestion is added" once in a quicknote message. Again I state here that my idea was a toggle. If you don't like it, turn it off. If you like it, turn it on.
